Tropical Storm Fay
Last Sunday update as it’s getting dark. Got out for some real pictures and video before the third thunderstorm came up. Shot all this stuff with my Olympus C2100, a 10 year old relic that seems to do a neat job with little Quicktime movies. Microphone is inadequate, though.
WatchThe ground is saturated, but in some places there are pockets of trapped air. When there is a small outlet connected to the air pocket there are bubbles. This particularly loud bubble source was near the dam. At the bottom of my hill there’s a chorus off bubbles, but the audio of this one is clearer. WatchI could hear the spillway from way far away. The microphone in this camera has no low frequency response. It really sounded a lot boomier than this.

I got another break between thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and went down to the Mitchell Pond. It is full. It is still raining and the creek is still running into it. How high will it go?

Update to previous post on Tropical Storm Fay. This is an exhausting storm. It’s mostly rain, not too much wind. It is just unrelenting. I got out with a real camera for a few minutes in the first bit of sun I’ve seen in days. It is really hot out there, and 100% humidity. I feel bad for Aunt June in her house of moistness. My air conditioner is running well, keeping the humidity down...

TS Fay got to Beachton Friday, August 22. Cloudy, light rain, gusty wind. By Friday night it was pretty wet and nasty. Power went out about 6:30pm and came back on around 11:00 and stayed on long enough to chill the refrigerator and freezer back down. Phone intermittent. Rain and wind all through the night in bands.
